Porcelain or natural stone?
Porcelain is stain-resistant, uniform and very low-maintenance, which suits modern homes. Indian sandstone has natural colour variation and a traditional look that ages gracefully. Both last a lifetime if they're laid correctly.
Laid on a full mortar bed
We lay slabs on a full bed of mortar, never on five dabs. That way there are no hollow spots to crack, and no gaps for ants and weeds. Joints are finished with a proper pointing compound, and the patio falls gently away from the house to shed water.
Design touches
Raised planters, steps, inset features (pictured) and curved paths all make a patio unique. We can draw it up so you can see it before we start.

Spring to early autumn is ideal. Mortar doesn't like frost, so we avoid laying in freezing conditions.
